International support improves education and social protection of vulnerable children in Paraguay

Asunción, IP Agency.- More than 7,000 children and adolescents in vulnerable situations in Paraguay have improved their living conditions thanks to the sponsorship system promoted by benefactors from Korea and Taiwan. This program, which operates in communities in the Central, Cordillera and San Pedro departments, has provided assistance in education, health and social protection, as highlighted by María de la Paz Brown, representative of Good Neighbors Paraguay, on the Paraguay TV program Tribuna.

The sponsorship system includes a series of benefits, such as access to quality education, medical care in coordination with the Ministry of Health and social support with the support of the Ministry of Children and Adolescents. “We work to lift children out of poverty with comprehensive approaches in key areas such as education, health and nutrition, as well as recreational and cultural activities,” Brown said.

Good Neighbors Paraguay focuses on improving educational opportunities by providing school materials, tutoring and scholarships to ensure the continuity of children’s studies. In terms of health, the organization implements health care and nutritional education programs, working together with the Family Health Units of the Ministry of Health. In addition, workshops and recreational activities are promoted that promote the comprehensive development of children, helping them develop skills and creativity.

The program also promotes local economic development through initiatives such as the Frutiguá project, which focuses on the cultivation and processing of strawberries in Areguá. This project seeks to improve the local economy through sustainable agriculture and job creation. Farmers receive training on agricultural practices, crop management and post-harvest techniques to ensure the quality of the products. In addition, facilities have been set up to process strawberries into jams, juices and other derived products, generating added value and establishing direct connections with local and regional markets.

As part of its commitment to youth, Good Neighbors has launched the Club Media program, which seeks to develop skills in digital content creation and video editing among the youth of Mariano Roque Alonso. This initiative has a special focus on promoting the rights of children and adolescents, preparing future communicators with tools that allow them to function in the digital environment in a safe and responsible manner.

With these programs, Good Neighbors Paraguay continues to provide opportunities to improve the quality of life of thousands of children and their communities, strengthening their comprehensive development and empowering families towards a better future.
