International – Sevilla botch opener in La Liga

Cologne (SID) – FC Sevilla messed up the start of the season in the Spanish La Liga. Last year’s fourth place around ex-Dortmunder Thomas Delaney lost the opening game at outsiders CA Osasuna 1: 2 (1: 1).

Argentina’s Ezequiel Avila gave Osasuna an early lead with a header (9′). The reply from the Champions League participant was not long in coming, just 109 seconds following the deficit, Rafa Mir pushed in to equalize following a template from Alejandro Gomez (11th).

In a balanced game, Sevilla had a lot more possession, but the hosts had the better chances. Aimar Oroz finally scored the decisive goal with a penalty kick (74th).
