International reactions to the strikes carried out by the Pakistani army on a border area in Iran on Thursday, including those issued by China, which offered “mediation” between Islamabad and Tehran.

On Thursday, China expressed its readiness to “mediate” between Pakistan and Iran, after an exchange of bombings on the border between the two countries, the last of which was launched by Pakistan and claimed the lives of 9 people.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning said in a regular press conference: “The Chinese side sincerely hopes that the two sides can calm down, exercise restraint, and avoid escalating tensions.”

She added: “We are ready to play a constructive role in reducing the escalation if both parties wish to do so.”

In the same context, the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed, on Thursday, its “concern over the developments and escalation following the Iranian attacks on Iraqi and Pakistani territory.”

In a Foreign Ministry statement published by Anatolia News Agency, Ankara called on “the friendly and brotherly countries of Iran, Iraq and Pakistan to calm down and exercise restraint.”

Archyde.com also quoted the Japanese Chief Cabinet Secretary, in response to a question about Pakistani strikes inside Iran, as saying: “We call on all parties to exercise maximum restraint and closely monitor the situation.”

After the announcement of the Pakistani strikes on Iran, on Thursday, the Saudi Foreign Minister, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, met with the interim Pakistani Prime Minister, Anwarul Haq Kakar, in Switzerland on the sidelines of the Davos World Economic Forum, according to what Archyde.com reported from the Prime Minister’s Office in Islamabad. .

In response to the strikes, Iran summoned the Pakistani charge d’affaires. The Iranian “Tasnim” agency said: “After the Pakistani attack in the morning on a border village in Sistan-Baluchestan province, the Pakistani charge d’affaires in Tehran was summoned to the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to provide an explanation.”

The Pakistani Foreign Ministry said in a statement, Thursday, that “Pakistan this morning carried out a series of very coordinated and precise military strikes against terrorist havens in the Iranian province of Sistan-Baluchestan,” adding that “a number of terrorists were killed.”

On Wednesday, the United States condemned the recent Iranian strikes in Iraq, Syria and Pakistan, as Tehran said they were targeting “anti-terrorist groups” against it.

State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said: “Yes, we condemn these strikes. We have seen Iran violate the sovereign borders of three of its neighbors over the past few days.”

On Monday night, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard announced that it had targeted “the spy headquarters and gathering headquarters of anti-Iranian terrorist groups in the region,” confirming the destruction of “the headquarters of the Zionist Mossad agency” in the Kurdistan region of Iraq and ISIS gatherings in Syria.

These strikes came in the context of escalating tension in the Middle East and fears of a comprehensive regional conflict against the backdrop of the war in Gaza between Israel and Hamas, which is part of what is known as the “axis of resistance” led by Tehran.
