International Population Day, 2022 edition in Gatara commune under the theme “Let’s turn demographic challenges into opportunities”

On Thursday August 11, 2022, the Assistant to the Minister of the Interior, Community Development and Public Security, Datus Nyandwi, enhanced with his presence, the ceremonies missing the international day of the population which took place in Commune Gatara in Kayanza province.

He pointed out that the choice of the said commune to host the ceremonies is not the result of chance. Indeed, he said, it is the most populated municipality in Burundi, with a density of 819 inhabitants per square kilometer. For him, this galloping demography is blocking various development projects in the education, health, livestock, agriculture and environment sectors. But it should not be a challenge, but rather an opportunity for the economic development of the country. To achieve this, residents must work diligently to empower themselves. Mr. Nyandwi appeals to everyone to face the galloping demography.
