The work of the International Council on Archives – Abu Dhabi 2023 Congress will officially open tomorrow, Tuesday, with a speech by His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President of the UAE, Deputy Prime Minister, and Head of the Presidential Office.

The opening ceremony includes speeches by José Kerbes, President of the International Council on Archives; François Hollande, former President of the French Republic. During its session, the Congress will witness many events, including the accompanying exhibition and the activities of the “International Council on Archives Hackathon” on October 10, in addition to the International Council on Archives Congress Congress Youth Forum on October 12, which provides the younger generation with a platform to discuss topics of great importance, especially sustainability, in addition to ways to Ensuring finding solutions to the challenges facing the world today, by improving the efficiency of information and knowledge management.

It is expected that the Congress will witness the presence of more than five thousand experts and specialists in the field of archives, in addition to the representation of more than 135 countries, the presentation of more than 310 research papers, in addition to the participation of more than 350 speakers and more than 60 exhibitors, in addition to 5 keynote speakers, to be Thus, this is the largest tournament ever in the history of this international event.
The Congress provides a platform for communication between experts, specialists and visitors from all over the world, and establishing direct contacts with actors in the Middle East, in light of increasing investments in the areas of archival collection management, digital record preservation and public programming.

His Excellency Dr. Abdullah Al Raisi, Cultural Advisor at the Presidential Office and Chairman of the Organizing Committee to Host the Congress of the International Council on Archives – Abu Dhabi 2023, stressed that the UAE’s hosting of this event for the first time in the region constitutes a distinguished milestone in its efforts to enhance the role of archives given its pivotal importance in preserving information and ensuring Access to it, as a pillar for building knowledge societies in today’s world.
Al-Raisi pointed out that this step embodies the state’s commitment to preserving cultural heritage, and its keenness to enhance international communication and cooperation in the field of archives, as well as exploring ways to employ technology in this vital sector, and exchanging experiences and sustainable practices in the field of archival work.
Al-Raisi explained that participating in this international event constitutes an ideal opportunity to communicate and exchange visions and ideas regarding the challenges of the archival sector and its future prospects, and to keep pace with the latest archival work methodologies.
