Within the framework of the 65th anniversary of its foundation, the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Zootechnics (FMVZ) of the Autonomous University of Tamaulipas (UAT) launched the Third International Congress, whose event is named following Dr. Gabriela Sarahí Luna Castro , in a posthumous tribute to the professor and researcher of this house of studies.
The inaugural event was attended, on behalf of the rector of the UAT, CP Guillermo Mendoza Cavazos, by Dr. Mariana Zerón Félix, Secretary of Research and Postgraduate Studies; Also present were the MVZ Dámaso Anaya Alvarado, State Secretary for Rural Development, on behalf of the Governor of Tamaulipas, Dr. Américo Villarreal Anaya; and Dr. Flaviano Benavides González, director of the FMVZ.
In the same way, the event was accompanied by Ing. Homero García de la Llata, president of the National Confederation of Livestock Organizations; Dr. María de la Luz Vázquez Sauceda, head of the Faculty’s Postgraduate Studies Division; and the greatest medical surgeon Julio César Teco Pérez, commander of the 48th military zone, among other authorities.
On his occasion, doctor Dámaso Anaya congratulated the University’s effort to organize events that allow students to interact with educational and scientific topics.
The governor’s representative pointed out that the connection of the UAT with the producers of the state will be of great importance to solve the problems that afflict this productive sector.
“As our governor, Dr. Américo Villarreal, mentions at the state level, we must team up between educational institutions and the livestock sector to move our state forward,” he added.
For her part, and when starting the work, Dr. Mariana Zerón Félix, representing the rector, said that, over the years, the FMVZ has become one of the most important schools at the national level in the training of specialized cadres.
In the same way, the director of the FMVZ, Flaviano Benavidez, explained the objectives of organizing this event to celebrate the 65 years of the university campus, which has established itself as one of the most important schools of its kind nationwide.
The director endorsed his commitment to continue strengthening quality education and, in this context, he outlined that there are three nationally recognized postgraduate programs, following emphasizing that, in its evolution processes, the Veterinary Faculty of the UAT It currently has a majority female population, representing 60% of the student enrollment.
Subsequently, Dr. Flaviano Benavides González, read a profile of Dr. Gabriela Sarahí Luna Castro, whose name this third veterinary congress bears, in posthumous tribute to the person who was a professor and researcher at this institution and left an enormous academic legacy for the growth of the students of this school.
The event takes place from October 17 to 22, 2022 and includes the participation of national and international speakers, with topics such as: wildlife, equines, aquaculture, small species, the role of the veterinary doctor in the conservation of wildlife, among others. others.
