The International Conference on Prevention and Therapeutic Update in Health was recently held, an event that brought together the scientific community in the health field in the city of Guayaquil. More than 120 professionals shared experiences, knowledge and explored new perspectives aimed at improving public health practices.

Over three days, participants immersed themselves in a variety of topics ranging from acute and chronic diseases in adults to crucial aspects of pediatrics, immunology, vaccines and oncology.

These meetings not only provided an update on medical protocols and guidelines, but also highlighted the importance of applying risk and harm reduction strategies in various conditions, addressing key issues such as problematic drug use, nicotine use, barriers to smoking cessation and smoking cessation strategies.

Likewise, psychological aspects that make smoking cessation difficult, the prevalence of smokers in Ecuador and the formulation of strategies to reduce the risk and harm of smoking were analyzed.

The Ecuadorian Medical Federation expressed its support for these sessions, highlighting the importance of events that promote the continuous updating of health professionals. “Prevention and therapeutic updating are fundamental pillars to guarantee the health of the population. These conferences have been an invaluable space to share knowledge and advance towards more effective and safe practices in the field of medicine,” declared Wilson Tenorio, president of the Ecuadorian Medical Federation.
