[ロンドン 19日 ロイター] – The activities of the cybercrime group “Rockbit” known for ransomware (ransom-demanding virus) attacks have been shut down through an unprecedented international collaboration between investigative agencies from the UK, the United States, Europe, Japan, and other countries. This was revealed on the 19th in a document posted on .

The operation involved the UK National Crime Agency (NCA), the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the European Criminal Police Organization (Europol), as well as police organizations from Japan, France, Switzerland, Canada, Australia and other countries.

The NCA posted a document stating that it had taken control of the Rockbit site. An NCA spokesperson said: “The operation continues and is evolving.”

Rockbit did not respond to a Reuters request for comment, but posted on its encrypted messaging app that it had backup servers that were not affected by the authorities’ shutdown.

Rockbit, working with other organizations, has launched cyberattacks on some of the world’s largest organizations in the past few months, stealing sensitive information and threatening to leak it unless a ransom is paid.

In the United States, more than 1,700 organizations were targeted in all sectors, including financial services and food businesses, schools, transportation, and government agencies. US authorities are calling it the world’s biggest ransomware attack threat.See more
