“International Bus Station in Brussels: The Search for a Centralized and Suitable Location”

A new station specifically designed for international buses in the Brussels Region is not for now. The subject, discussed since the beginning of the legislature, is indeed far from being concretized. Currently, Flixbus and Eurolines type buses stop near the Gare du Nord and Gare du Midi. A temporary situation, and the regional authorities have shown the desire to centralize these buses in a suitable place.

An international bus station in Brussels: a temporary solution on boulevard Albert II for June, the final location is long overdue

But still no white smoke on the horizon. Several scenarios are still on the table, confirms the cabinet of Elke Van den Brandt (Groen). “We are thinking. It’s not easy, because spaces are rare in Brussels.” The perfect places would be, for the authorities, the surroundings of Brussels Midi or Brussels North, for an optimal connection with public transport. But other scenarios, no doubt more realistic, are being studied by Erasmus and Ceria, in Anderlecht.

However, the Erasmus track does not benefit from the support of the municipality or the hospital, said Minister Groen in an interview with Bruzz. Herrmann-Debroux would also be under consideration. The Heysel is only considered for a temporary solution in the event of an imperative move from the North district.

The government hopes to have the venue set for this year, the cabinet says.
