A delegation from the International Atomic Energy Agency headed by Rafael Grossi inspected the Ukrainian nuclear power plant near Zaporizhia. The facility – the largest of its kind in Europe – is under Russian control. It is regarding working out a plan to ensure the safety of the power plant, said Grossi.
“It is important that we can continue the dialogue. Thank you for allowing our working group to be here since September,” he said.
Three weeks ago, projectiles fell not far from the nuclear power plant, following which the plant was temporarily disconnected from the power grid. Russia and Ukraine blamed each other.
Grossi warns that there are increasing military activities in the area and that the situation around the power plant has not improved.
On Monday, Grossi exchanged views with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
