Interior Ministry investigates employees’ wives benefiting from local community deals

Informed sources revealed that the Ministry of Interior has opened an investigation into companies run by the wives of senior employees within local authorities, who benefited from a number of deals and projects that were launched.

The same sources explained that the ministry has shifted its monitoring of the deals concluded by the territorial groups to investigating the companies that benefit from them, especially those that belong to people who have close relationships with some of the presidents and are fully aware of the specifications, including their wives.

The investigation opened by the Ministry of Interior in this regard comes after employees within a group of groups on the national level turned overnight into influential people who own apartments, villas, real estate and agricultural lands, which raised suspicions about the source of this wealth.

The aforementioned sources confirmed that there are suspicions that these people have established companies in the names of their wives to win deals launched by local authorities, the details of which they have prior knowledge of, or whose specifications they tailor to suit their wives and no one else.

Deeper research into these deals and the companies that won them will reveal the existence of a group of employees who exploited the names of their wives or relatives in order to win millions of dirhams, and thus became owners of huge fortunes.

This comes at a time when the Ministry of Interior is making strenuous efforts to ensure transparency in public transactions through the licensing portal, but some practices undermine these efforts and contribute to the perpetuation of favoritism and cronyism.
