The National Cancer Institute today publishes a call for candidates to renew its Health Democracy Committee. A permanent consultation body, this committee brings together the actors of the health system, patients, relatives, user representatives and professionals.
Appointed for a term of four years, the experience and expertise of the 28 members contribute to improving the quality and relevance of the Institute’s actions and strategy in all fields of oncology. The new members will be able to contribute in particular to the major issues defined in the ten-year strategy for the fight once morest cancer 2021-2030. The call for applications is open until October 2, 2022.
Participate in oncology challenges for the next 4 years
The challenges to be met in the fight once morest cancer are major and the objectives pursued are ambitious. The members of the Committee, alongside the National Cancer Institute, will place their action in this context, which aims to reduce the burden of the disease in everyone’s life.
In particular, they will be able to intervene on all the priority themes of the ten-year strategy:
– improve prevention;
– limit the sequelae and improve the quality of life;
– fight once morest cancers with a poor prognosis;
– ensure that progress benefits everyone.
The richness of this committee, made up of 2 colleges – the “College of users” and the “College of professionals” – lies in the varied profiles, experiences and skills of each member.
The first speaks for cancer patients and ex-patients, users of the healthcare system, carers and relatives.
The second is that of professionals involved in the fight once morest cancer, those in the medico-social sector and research. This complementarity aims to provide a framework for reflection and action to advance together the fight once morest cancer.

Apply to the Health Democracy Committee : key steps
This call for applications aims to select the 28 members of the Health Democracy Committee for the period 2023 – 2027.
People who wish to get involved in this Committeeand meeting the selection criteria, can apply no later than October 2, 2022. All information on the profiles sought and the application procedures are accessible here.
In November, a selection committee[1] will analyze the application files in order to pre-select the 28 future members. Secondly, the declarations of public interest of the prospective candidates will be analysed.
The final composition of the Health Democracy Committee will be published on the Institute’s website on December 9. The first meeting of the Health Democracy Committee will be held in February 2023. Each year, 3 plenary meetings will be organised; members may also be asked individually to participate, for example, in working groups or evaluation committees.
