As 2024 comes to a close, the world of XR continues to buzz with exciting developments. We got a sneak peek at Samsung’s upcoming Android XR headset, and learned that three other companies are also working on their own Android XR devices. Quest v72 is rolling out, bringing updates to the popular platform. The upcoming Android XR platform is already attracting new game releases, including “Job Simulator,” “Vacation Simulator,” and “Demeo,” while Beat Saber got a Metallica DLC pack. Quest also saw the arrival of new titles like “Action Hero,” “Iron Rebellion,” and “Home Sports.”

PC VR Space Exploration Sim “Inter Solar 83” Gets new Alpha Update
The PC VR space exploration game “Inter Solar 83” received a major Alpha update this week. The update brings a new planet type to explore, reworked atmospheric systems, visual enhancements like volumetric fog, additional terrain models, and an improved save system. A free demo is still available on Steam,and those looking for early access can join the closed Alpha through Patreon.
“Living Room” Gets Festive With Free Winter Update On Quest
The mixed reality wildlife management game “Living Room” recently launched on Quest and has now received a festive Winter update. The free update adds holiday decorations to the virtual environments, introduces a new Pet Happiness System, adds more toys for the virtual animals, and includes other features such as island refunds to help players reclaim Happy Points.

VR Barber Sim “Shave & Stuff” Adds Dreadlocks and PlayStation VR2 Support
HyperVR Games’ popular VR barber and tattoo simulator, “Shave & Stuff,” is expanding its world with fresh content and a new platform. the game has launched a “Dreads DLC” for Meta Quest, introducing over 30 new scenarios for players to test their skills. Alongside the DLC, “Shave & Stuff” received a visual upgrade with the “Glow-Up update,” enhancing its overall look.Adding to the excitement, a PlayStation VR2 port of the base game is now available, bringing the immersive barber sim experience to a new audience.
The “shave & Stuff” base game is available on Meta Quest and PlayStation VR2.
“Thrasher” Wins Apple Vision Pro Game of the Year
Puddle’s arcade game “Thrasher,” which debuted on Apple Vision Pro and Meta Quest in July, snagged the coveted Apple Vision Pro Game of the Year at the recent App Store Awards. This unique title places players in control of a space eel navigating unusual landscapes and battling bosses in a fight for survival. Described as a spiritual successor to the well-received “Thrasher,” the game has clearly resonated with players and critics alike.
“Batman: Arkham Shadow” Takes Home Best VR/AR Game at The Game Awards
“Batman: Arkham Shadow” was crowned the Best VR/AR Game at The Game Awards, beating out strong contenders such as “Arizona Sunshine Remake,” “Metal: Hellsinger VR,” “Metro Awakening,” and “ ‘The Exorcist: Legion VR Chapter 5 – The Hope”. Developed by Camouflaj, the game immerses players in the dark world of Gotham City as Batman utilizes his gadgets and detective skills to combat crime.
