Italian football club Inter has reached an agreement to include Iranian international striker Mehdi Taremi in a free transfer from Portuguese club Porto next summer.

Reliable sports journalist Fabricio Romano stated – today, Monday – in a tweet on the X platform that the “Nerazzurri” set a date for medical examinations for Taremi before he joined as a free player in June.

Romano wrote, “A month ago there was a verbal agreement with Taremi. The duration of the deal extends until June 2026, including the option to extend it for another year.”

On the other hand, the Italian website Calciomercato indicated – today, Monday – that the 31-year-old Iranian will receive regarding 3 million euros per season.

The experienced striker was one of the main names on the list of strikers that the Italian club wanted to sign last season, but the deal was not completed at that time, due to Inter rejecting the price requested by Porto in exchange for giving up the player.

The Iranian striker’s contract with the Portuguese giant expires next June, and during the current season, Taremi played 24 matches, scoring 6 goals and providing 4 assists in all competitions.

Moreover, the player participated in 11 matches with the Iranian national team (including friendly matches and Asian qualifiers for the World Cup and the Asian Cup in Qatar), scoring 8 goals and providing 2 assists.

If the deal is completed, Taremi will become the first player to sign for Inter, and he is likely to be followed by Polish Piotr Zielinski, who is expected to join the Italian league giant on a free transfer following his contract with Napoli, the Serie A champions, expires last season.
