Inter guarantees qualification to the final of the Angola Cup in basketball – Jornal OPaís

Interclube’s senior men’s basketball team won, this Saturday, 1.º de Agosto, by 84-81, and is in the final of the Angola Cup, scheduled for next Saturday, 30, in the province of Benguela.

The first quarter of the duel played at the 28 de Fevereiro Pavilion, in the country’s capital, ended in favor of the military (26 -24).

In search of solutions for the triumph, the team led by Lazare Adingono finished with an advantage at half-time (46 -45), benefiting from a long-distance throw two seconds from the end.

The third period was a constant struggle and successive changes in the score, ending in a tie at 62 points.

It should be noted that Elcane Paca, who represents the colors of the Angolan Armed Forces central club, with 25 points, was the best scorer of the challenge.

In the first “leg”, Thursday, at Pavilhão Victorino Cunha, 1.º de Agosto lost by 64-85, and would only reach the next stage if they won by more than 22 points, which did not happen.

In the other semi-final, played in the city of Lobito, Casa do Pessoal (CPPL) beat Petro de Luanda, holder of the title, 77-74. Due to this result, the Lobito team made history by defeating the Tricolor team for the first time.

However, it was not enough to qualify for the final of this competition, due to the significant defeat in the first leg (118-73).

The team from the city of Acácias Rubras did well, managing to cancel out Petro’s main stars, especially Carlos Morais, Yanick Moreira and the two Americans recently hired for Ball, who were unable to show their basketball. Gelson Kalunga “Chara”, from CPPL, once once more produced another great performance, scoring 42 points.
