Israel announced on Monday that it will intensify security screening of supplies that will be sent to the Gaza Strip in order to increase the volume of humanitarian aid.

The Israeli army said that the Kerem Shalom crossing between Israel and Gaza will be open “for security inspections to increase the entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza.”

He added that trucks containing water, food, medical supplies and shelter equipment will be examined there, and then continue on their way to Egypt, bringing supplies into Gaza.

A delegation including representatives of member states of the UN Security Council arrived on Monday at Al-Arish Airport in Egypt, in preparation for inspecting the humanitarian aid provided to the Gaza Strip, according to Al-Hurra’s correspondent.

An invitation was sent from Egypt and the UAE to all fifteen members of the Security Council and the five elected members to visit the Egyptian side of the Rafah crossing on Monday.

Informed sources confirmed to Al Hurra’s correspondent that thirteen members accepted the invitation, and at least five members of the Security Council will participate at the level of permanent representatives, including three permanent members.

It is noteworthy that this visit will not be an official mission by the Security Council to the field, which is usually agreed upon unanimously among the members of the Council, and then is transferred to the Secretary-General of the United Nations to follow up on the financing and organizational arrangements approved when sending official missions or delegations. The costs of this unofficial visit will be covered by the participating members, according to the correspondent.

Limited humanitarian aid and fuel supplies have crossed into Gaza through the Rafah crossing since the beginning of the war on October 7, while the 15-member Security Council is negotiating a draft resolution drafted by the UAE calling on the two warring parties to “allow the use of all land, sea and air routes leading to and around Gaza.” To deliver aid.

The draft resolution also includes the establishment of a mechanism to monitor aid administered by the United Nations in the Gaza Strip. It was not immediately clear when the draft resolution might be put to a vote.
