A major manhunt was organized on Tuesday evening to find a fleeing motorist in Laeken. The man nearly hit an officer during a check.

Eight police vehicles and two helicopters were mobilized to find the fleeing motorist and passengers, but without success. A few minutes earlier, the individuals in question were subject to a check by the police of the Brussels-Capital-Ixelles area for drug trafficking.

The occupants of the vehicle did not hear it that way and decided to flee, threatening to hit one of the inspectors present. The policeman escapes unscathed.

The area raked for two hours

The vehicle was lost sight of before being spotted again in the territory of Vilvoorde. “Witnesses claimed that the occupants had fled into a forest. Air support from the federal police was then requested, but the suspects were able to flee”, explains Ilse Van de Keere, from the Brussels-Capital-Ixelles police zone, to our colleagues from the Nieuwsblad. “The area was raked tightly for two hours, but the occupants, who had fled further on foot, were no longer found.”
