Intelligence chief predicted war in Ukraine: nuclear strike “won’t happen”

The head of the Ukrainian secret service said a good year ago Ukraine conflict ahead. Eleven months later, the words of the 37-year-old Budanov carry great weight with President Volodymyr Zelensky in Kyiv. For this year, he predicts that Russia will focus on occupying more territories in the eastern regions. Ukraine must now do everything “to ensure that Crimea returns home by summer,” he said Washington Post.

However, he is not afraid of nuclear strikes: “Russia is a country from which one can expect a lot, but not total idiocy,” said the head of the secret service. “I’m sorry, but that’s not going to happen,” he adds. Because a nuclear strike would not only lead to Russia’s military defeat, but to the absolute collapse of the country. And they knew that “very well”.

The head of the secret service is certain: Ukraine will win

Other claims made by Budanov include, among others, that Vladimir Putin was terminally ill with cancer and have multiple doppelgangers. In a recent speech at the Economic Forum in Davos, Zelenskyy said he wasn’t sure whether Putin was still alive. According to Western intelligence services, however, there is no information that indicates the Russian president is ill.

“There are always doubts,” he told the Washington Post to. “How effective I am in my position will probably only become clear through history in the future. I can’t judge myself objectively. Time will tell.” Budanov is asked what comes next: “The victory of Ukraine,” he said. “I’m not saying anything new.” (na)
