New branch of Intelbras opened in Tubarão/SC

The new branch of Intelbras (INTB3), a Brazilian company that develops technologies with 47 years of history, started operations in the city of Tubarão (SC). With an initial investment of 60 million euros, the unit includes a production line for network cables and fiber optic cables.

“Intelbras, which was born in Santa Catarina, a state recognized as an innovation hub, has always played an active part in the industrial, technological and social development of the region. With the Tubarão branch, we are going to expand our presence in the state, opening up new business opportunities and acting more broadly in the network cables and fiber optic sector”, explains Altair Silvestri, CEO of Intelbras.

It is the company’s sixth unit

The Tubarão branch is the sixth Intelbras unit. In addition to two units in the city of São José/SC (head office and branch), the company also operates in Manaus (AM), Santa Rita do Sapucaí (MG) and Jaboatão dos Guararapes (PE). The new unit occupies an area of ​​30,000 square meters on the banks of the BR 101 (Ivane Fretta Moreira highway). With 15 thousand square meters of built area, it should generate hundreds of direct and indirect jobs in the region.

With the Tubarão branch, which began operations in December last year, Intelbras will increase its presence in the national market for fiber optic networks and cables, which annually consumes more than 1.5 million kilometers of fiber optic cables. and over 1 million network cable boxes.

“Acting directly in the production of fiber optic cables and networks is part of Intelbras’ strategy to offer increasingly complete solutions in connectivity for the customer. Our expectation is to gain scale, expand the portfolio in this market segment and serve our customers with more agility, customizations and continuous improvement. All of this will further strengthen the brand as a complete, reliable solution that is close to partners and consumers”, comments Amilcar Scheffer, director of the Intelbras network unit.

The main production highlight at the branch is fiber optics, which already corresponds to 66% of fixed broadband in Brazil, according to Anatel. Entering this market is also a way for Intelbras to increase its competitiveness. “By producing the cables internally, we are going to apply our operational excellence to a process that begins with the acquisition of raw materials and goes on to the dispatch of our solutions”, highlights the executive.

Improvement in cable quality standards
