During the quarterly reporting conference Intel CEO Patrick Gelsinger recalled that the company entered into a cooperation agreement with the British developer of processor architectures Arm Arm to cooperate in the field of adapting its developments to its own Intel 18A technology, which theoretically will allow from 2025 to produce advanced Arm-compatible processors at Intel enterprises for the needs third party customers.

At the same time, Intel itself, as follows from Gelsinger’s words, is skeptical regarding the prospects for releasing Arm-compatible processors for the server segment, since its own Xeon family with the so-called energy-efficient E-type cores will be able to solve the main problem in this market – to ensure compatibility with existing software. under the x86 ecosystem while reducing energy costs.
But Intel has no objection to the release of those same processors with an Arm-compatible architecture to order from third-party customers, as well as carriers of the RISC-V architecture. GPUs will also play an important role in computing acceleration, so Intel is ready to offer customers all four types of products: x86 CPUs, Arm, RISC-V, and GPUs.
So far, Intel allocates regarding 10% of its capital expenditures to the contract business, but as the core business develops, this share may increase. Before the end of this year, another third-party investor will be announced who has agreed to share the cost of building a new chip manufacturing facility with Intel. In addition, already last quarter, Intel customers managed to get working samples of products manufactured using 18A technology, which will be mastered on a massive scale by 2025.
