Intel released this Tuesday (14) its action plan for the climate transition, highlighting the strategies aimed at reducing its carbon footprint. In an editorial signed by the company’s CEO, Pat Gelsinger, Intel emphasized the use of sustainable practices. Among the highlights of the plan is the commitment to zero greenhouse gas emissions throughout the production chain by 2050.
Last year, the company had already indicated that it would eliminate greenhouse gas emissions in global operations by 2040. The plan provides an overview of the most important strategies to achieve these objectives, integrating sustainability into the core of the business, strengthening operations and production chain, and promoting innovation.
Intel’s research teams, according to the text, would already be working on solutions for the next decade, including the development of more sustainable chemicals, improvements to designs and systems for greater energy efficiency.
According to the CEO, within a context of global expansion in which computing power is linked to progress —especially with silicon technologies, whose microchips are fundamental for the maintenance and viability of our modern lives—, Intel would be committed to advancing its core purpose of creating transformative technology, aiming to improve global lives and contribute to a more sustainable future for subsequent generations.
