Intel to announce 14th/15th generation CPUs at Hot Chips 34 in August

Intel announces 14/15th generation CPUs, Meteor and Arrow Lake, at Hot Chips 34, scheduled for August 21, 2022.

The Hot Chips Symposium is known as an event to share information and technologies on the latest CPU, GPU, and foundry technologies. In particular, at the event scheduled for this year, Intel’s 14/15th generation CPUs Meteor and Arrow Lake’s Foveros 3D were unveiled, attracting a lot of attention.

The reason that the announcement draws attention is that the 14th generation CPU Meteor Lake will be applied with Intel’s next-generation 7nm process. In addition, the CPU to be released in the second half of 2023 will have a slightly different structure from the existing CPU as Foveros, a 3D stacking technology to be applied to the CPU, is applied.

Foveros, which is currently known, is a 3D packaging technology independently developed by Intel, and is known for making a CPU, GPU, SoC, I/O tiles, etc. into one CPU. As Intel suffered from difficulties in process miniaturization in the past, 14th generation Meteor Lake is receiving more attention as it is known that Intel’s first 7nm process and TSMC N5 process will be applied simultaneously with the application of the 3D stacking technology.

Meanwhile, regarding the actual product release, the 14th generation CPU Meteor Lake will be released in the second half of 2023, and the 15th generation CPU Arrow Lake will be released in 2024.
