Intel may drop the “i” for the i3, i5, and i7 processor lines. The information came from the PCgamer website, where it is said that the CPU manufacturer may no longer use the “i” of “Core i9” and, in certain models, even add the word “Ultra”. In testing, the Intel Core Ultra 5 1003H is running at 45W and has 18 cores and 18 threads listed. It is believed to be 4 e-cores and two extra threads coming from two SoC cores side by side. This may be possible, as the Meteor Lake architecture will be Intel’s first to utilize disaggregated designs rather than a single chip.
Regarding the nomenclature of the new processor, everything indicates that it will be called this way. According to the PCgamer website, Intel’s director of global communications, Bernard Fernandes, confirmed that there will be some changes in the way CPUs are called with the launch of the next generation (Meteor Lake). However, it has not yet been revealed what these changes will be.
