Intel went once morest expectations and did not present its new generation of desktop processors at the InnovatiON event, however, on the second day of the conference, some of the manufacturer’s hardware engineers decided to make a brief mention of the 14th generation Core family — also called “Raptor Lake Refresh.”
Behind the scenes of the event, a team demonstrated a new generation processor to create a virtual avatar of a person captured in real time with cameras. Unfortunately, no information regarding the hardware has been revealed, so the specifications of the model used in the display are unknown.
“This machine is working with our Raptor Lake Refresh […]so we’re showing you, for the first time, some of our new hardware,” said Craig Raymond, consumer products technologist at Intel, also noting that the demo computer used the new Thunderbolt 5 standard.
Considering that creating a virtual avatar is a task that demands high performance, it is possible to deduce that the demonstration involved the Intel Core i9-14900K, tipped to be the fastest processor in the new line with a clock speed of up to 6.0 GHz. Others Family models may include the Core i7-14700K and Core i5-14600K.
Despite the brief mention of the “Raptor Lake Refresh” processors, which will serve as a small update to the 13th generation Core family (Raptor Lake), the manufacturer did not fail to emphasize that it will migrate to a more efficient architecture next year, confirming that the line of “Meteor Lake” processors will arrive for desktops in 2024.
