Intel Cancels Meteor Lake Desktop Processors

The release of Intel desktop processors of the Meteor Lake family may not take place. This was announced by an insider Raichu on Twitter – earlier he very accurately indicated the parameters and performance of many of the company’s new products a few months before their release.

The source spoke specifically regarding Meteor Lake-S, that is, chips for laptops of this generation should enter the market. The Wccftech portal found some more circumstantial evidence that Intel may indeed refuse to release these CPU models. Firstly, it is similar to Arrow Lake in terms of the number of small and large cores, which is unlikely, since it makes no sense for the company to make almost identical products in this aspect. Secondly, according to the Intel roadmap, the release of the Raptor Lake Refresh family is scheduled for the second half of 2023, which coincides with the estimated release time of Meteor Lake-S.

Journalists suggest that this decision was caused by Intel’s problems with the transition to a thinner process technology. It is likely that the company does not have time to master it and establish mass production, and there is a chance that Meteor Lake for laptops will be completely produced by TSMC.
