Integrative medicine, a new paradigm that came to Junín –

“Integrative Medicine is another label for a new paradigm, which is being practiced and where there are many doctors, nutritionists, psychologists, psychiatrists, who spread this, also known as Orthomolecular Medicine,” explained Dr. Daniela Esturo, specialist in Integrative Medicine and Nutrition .
According to the professional, “nutrition is the great tool of integrative medicine, which has to do with all aspects. Traditional medicine treats the human being through specialties, depending on the pathology, we were trained to prescribe and treat the patient in parts, but not as a whole. The main tool and the first step is to listen to the patient, to know what is wrong with him, what he eats, how he sleeps, everything…”.
“On the other hand, today to be able to live you have to attend to a large number of patients and they don’t give the time, that’s why Integrative Medicine needs time,” he said.
Much of the consultation in this area of science “is to talk, sit down to chat and inform, disseminate. The patient reasons and learns when he understands, knowing the why of things”.

INTEGRAL
On the other hand, Dr. Esturo said that “human beings are not only nourished by what they eat, but also by what they think, what they feel, what they do… because everything has a metabolic impact. If someone has a sad feeling or thought, that results in the production of chemicals that will have a physical response. That is why it is important for the doctor to know and there are tools to be able to treat, disciplines like yoga for example”.
Regarding food, he explained: “You have to carefully analyze what it means to eat healthy today, because we have the food industry that bombards us with ultra-processed foods that are sold as healthy, but in reality they are crap.”

NUTRITION
Regarding nutrition, “it is still thought that it has to do with being fat or skinny. But health is for everyone, and patients with other problems are also appearing”.
“The cancer cell feeds on sweets and there are many tools that can be implemented from nutrition that help the well-being of the cancer patient, their quality of life and prognosis. It does not replace treatments but helps ”, she added.
At the same time, Esturo remarked that “the pandemic, despite how painful it was, has left us tools to reflect on the true values of life. One of the main ones is health, because otherwise we have nothing”.
