In less than a year, Paris will be at the center of the world. The French capital will, in fact, host the Olympic Games from July 26 to August 11, 2024. Taking advantage of the dynamic created by the preparation of these games, the French president received, on October 23, leaders or educators of sports clubs, as well as employment professionals to discuss the subject of integration through sport.
Indeed, organizing the Olympic Games is among the biggest events that France organizes. This is a unique meeting for which Paris has been working since the end of 2017. Emmanuel Macron therefore wants to take advantage of this opportunity to breathe new life into sport in France. By receiving at the Élysée presidents of federations of former athletes and sports clubs, leaders of the CNOSF and CPSF as well as associations or partners from the professional sector, the French president announced the color.
Integration of young people through sport
Indeed, in the presence of the Minister of Sports, Olympic and Paralympic Games, Amélie Oudéa-Castera, and Minister of Labor, Full Employment and Integration, Olivier Dussopt, Emmanuel Macron declared in the preamble: “ We had never had this moment with all the club educators together. I am proud to correct this aberration of history.” He added : ” sport builds on learning regarding life, some are transformed by sport thanks to its power of emancipation and education. We learn the rules, respect for opponents, schedules, equality between women and men. We learn lots of things that some in the stadiums forget, but that we remind them of.”
The French president also spoke at length regarding the systems already in existence to create the link between sport and work, highlighting the role of integration coaches through sport, who connect members of clubs or associations with companies wishing to recruit. He indicated that “ 500 professional integration coaches have already been trained to support young people in building their individual project and 500 others will be trained by 2025 “. For the future, Emmanuel Macron expressed his desire to “ structure an integration through sport alliance by the end of the year ».
The French president also announced that “ in 2024, the financing of 1,000 clubs in 500 cities for the training of 1,000 sports social educators with aid of 20,000 euros per club. It should be noted, in this chapter, that France sets the objective of significantly increasing each year the number of beneficiaries of integration actions through sport from 22,000 young people affected in 2022 to more than 100,000 in 2027.
