Mercedes-Benz is amplifying its commitment to artificial intelligence (AI) by integrating OpenAI’s ChatGPT into its MBUX voice assistant, setting a new standard for voice commands in cars. This innovative development uses Microsoft’s Azure OpenAI service and is set to make voice interactions even more natural and intuitive for Mercedes-Benz drivers.
Beginning June 16, 2023, a beta program will be available to over 900,000 US customers, providing a test bed for this game-changing technology. The optional program, accessible via the Mercedes me app or directly via MBUX with the command “Hey Mercedes, I want to join the beta program”, offers users the opportunity to directly experience the revolutionary capabilities of ChatGPT.
ChatGPT, part of the Generative Pre-trained Transformer family, greatly expands the capabilities of the already robust MBUX voice assistant. Unlike most voice assistants that rely on predefined commands, ChatGPT leverages AI to improve natural language understanding and expand responsiveness.
