A FIPA, that is to say full integrated police action, was held this weekend in the south of the province of Namur. The operation, which consisted of targeted checks on drink-driving, is an example of integrated policing: several areas of a district cooperate at inter-zonal level.
This was the case at night on Friday and Saturday evenings in the Condroz-Famenne zone, in the Lesse and Lhomme zone and in the Haute-Meuse zone.
The results for Condroz-Famenne, which checked in Havelange (avenue de Criel), Somme-Leuze (rue de France) and Ciney (Sainfoin): five license withdrawals for 15 days, three for six hours, a report for absence of technical control and various reports relating to the lack of insurance, medical selection, green insurance card and a technical control defect for a trailer hitch.
A total of 97 drivers were checked and seven were under the influence, i.e. 7.2%.
The Lesse and Lhomme area has established controls in Rochefort (rue de Marche and rue Rametenne) and Beauraing (rue de Dinant). Results: 292 drivers tested for alcohol, 16 of them positive, with eight three-hour driving bans, two six-hour driving bans and six immediate withdrawals of driving licenses for 15 days. A motorist was checked under the influence of cocaine and cannabis, with a driving ban for 12 hours.

One driver in particular caught the attention of the police: the man was driving under the influence of cocaine and cannabis, without a driver’s license, with an unregistered, uninsured vehicle lacking technical control. The vehicle was seized. This driver was also an illegal resident. he was arrested administratively and made available to the foreigners office. A prohibited weapon (a machete) was found in his vehicle and seized.
In addition, a driver and a passenger were imposed an immediate collection of an amount of €116 for not wearing seat belts.
Finally, the Haute-Meuse zone has not communicated any results.
