Insurers called electric cars more dangerous and more expensive than cars with internal combustion engines

The main problem lies in the fact that in most electric cars the battery is located in the lower part of the body, so any mechanical damage to the bottom or even thresholds in a collision can lead to very expensive repairs.

But regarding the risk of fire, experts, on the contrary, said that it is extremely low for both cars with internal combustion engines and electric cars – according to statistics, only five cars out of 10,000 catch fire as a result of a collision. The main danger from battery-powered vehicles lies in the very high torque, which causes drivers to accelerate rapidly and sometimes lose control when braking. It is for this reason that electric cars often become the culprits of accidents.
