One of the highlights of the annual Insurance Innovation Day (“Magic of Innovation”, MOI) in Vienna is the presentation of the “Insury Awards”.
Last Wednesday, three podium places were awarded in each of three categories – with a total of ten winners, since a third place went to two applicants.
The participants nominated for the awards were able to present their achievements to the audience – who then chose the winners – in presentations (“pitches”), each lasting a maximum of five minutes.
Target group small(est) companies
In the “Insury Talent” category, the motto “Pitch like a startup, even if you aren’t one” is not regarding startups, but regarding established providers who were able to present their innovations “like a startup”.
The Slovenian insurer took first place here Sava Insurance Company. Admir Zahovic presented a new offer that is specifically aimed at small companies, more precisely it is regarding the awareness-raising process that focuses on simplicity and brevity.
Potential customers are made aware of three main risks in a concise manner on one page. According to Zahovic, most of the small companies who are otherwise not very affinity with insurance are reacting in such a way that they are ultimately interested in at least one of the covers.
Target group 18 to 20 year olds
Second place went to Uniqa Österreich Versicherungen AG. This is also regarding raising awareness, just regarding a different target group. The starting point for the considerations was how to get 18 to 20 year olds interested in insurance, reported Tina Thron.
Something that many like to do on their own is video games. So why not marry the vehicle “video game” with the content “insurance”? The Uniqa did that too. Result is the game Jojo’s Mojoin which you can run through different risk scenarios.
Household insurance, credit insurance
The third place among the “Insury Talents” is shared by the Donau Versicherung AG and the Acredia Insurance Ltd.
Philipp Vejchoda presented “Wohnennext” on behalf of the Danube. With this fully digital product, it was possible to take out household insurance within five minutes, and the fastest one was done in one and a half minutes. The policy is in the e-mail inbox within half a minute.
Daniel Husung took to the stage for Acredia. With the product “Shield”, the credit insurer has developed an offer that is specially tailored to small companies and is intended to make it easier for them to conclude the contract.
Six Insurance Startup winners
In addition to the “Insury Talent” award, the “Insury Startup” award for Insurtechs and Healthtechs was also presented in two parts.
Six of the ten startups nominated here presented their business models live on stage. The three winners come from the Czech Republic, Singapore and Germany.
