Yvan Verougstraete, vice-president of Les Engagés, is the guest of Bel RTL matin. At the microphone of Loïc Parmentier, he details his party’s idea of launching “free” isolation.
Les Engagés offer to insulate houses and apartments free of charge for owners. For Yvan Verougstraete, it is a question of fighting once morest global warming: “We can clearly see that the current measures are not working. So how can we do better so that all citizens can insulate their homes. It is better to isolate than to continue to pay fuel oil checks which go up in smoke”.
What can be done so that the citizen does not pay anything?
“It’s insulation at no cost because the work is financed by the State at 0 rate and they are reimbursed on part of the energy savings. In reality when you insulate, you add value, you create a possibility of reducing your daily bill. And this bill, we take half which is used to reimburse the work and the other half which goes to the occupant of the building”.
There is a system in the Brussels Region to put solar panels on your home, without the owner having to pay. It’s kind of the same idea.
Hassle-free renovations
It will also be “hassle free”according to the vice-president of the Committed,“because we are not specialists, we do not know if the quotes are well done. We suggest that there be a site manager who takes all the work in hand, just like for the photovoltaic panels, and let them do the work for you”.
The owner will have five years to insulate his house himself “and we offer him a 0 rate so that he can do it easily. Then, if he doesn’t do it following five years, there will be a tax on the reduction in greenhouse gases that he doesn’t will not have done”he points out.
The party will launch a petition today “to raise awareness”.
