ALGIERS – Minister of Trade and Export Promotion Tayeb Zitouni gave, Tuesday, a series of instructions aimed at regulating the market, guaranteeing the supply of various widely consumed food products, and putting an end to the commercial exploitation of certain subsidized products, notably sugar, indicated a press release from the ministry.
These instructions came during a coordination meeting chaired by Mr. Zitouni at the ministry’s headquarters with central executives, which focused on several areas linked to the digitization of the sector and market regulation, the press release specifies.
During this meeting, Mr. Zitouni instructed the launch, from next Sunday, of the electronic submission of requests for withdrawal of “certificates of compliance” via the new digital platform dedicated to importers carrying out the activity of importing raw materials and products and goods intended for resale as is.
The minister also insisted on the intensification of control over all production units, in order to put an end to the commercial exploitation of subsidized food products, in particular sugar intended for households, after the discovery of certain infringements in this regard.
Mr. Zitouni also stressed the need to support importers of red and white meat to ensure wide distribution and guarantee their marketing at prices accessible to citizens, and to monitor storage operations for agricultural products in coordination with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, adds the press release.

Furthermore, the minister gave instructions to monitor the distribution of subsidized milk according to the new digital card which will be launched from Wednesday, according to the same source.
During the meeting, the latest adjustments made to the digital platform for mass consumer products were presented, which will constitute “a control lever for the distribution network of food products at the source, all the way to the retailer.” , concludes the press release.
