The agreement will allow users of Youth Integration Centers to have access to different artistic expressions during their treatment
The National Institute of Fine Arts and Literature (INBAL) and Youth Integration Centers (CIJ) signed an interinstitutional collaboration agreement in favor of the well-being of one of the most important sectors of society. This joint initiative aims to address the prevention and treatment of addictions, as well as promote the health and well-being, both physical and mental, of the country’s young people, which reflects the commitment of both institutions to improving quality of life and health promotion in their respective communities.
This agreement will allow the organization, either virtually or in person, of conferences, information sessions, courses or workshops, related to the treatment and prevention of addictions, aimed at the personnel determined and organized by the Institute, a body of the Secretariat for this purpose. of Culture of the Government of Mexico.
In addition, Inbal will give talks related to its institutional work to CIJ patients, in order to promote and disseminate arts and culture. It will provide and condition physical or virtual spaces that the ICJ requires to carry out the preventive activities object of this instrument, including the equipment necessary for their development.
The general director of Inbal, Lucina Jiménez López, expressed that collaboration between institutions is essential, and explained that museums, in addition to being open spaces for everyone, have developed pedagogical proposals in accordance with the population. Likewise, she explained that art in different expressions represents a bridge between all communities in the country. “Art is an expression of humanity and involves us all.”
In the formal ceremony held at the Palace of Fine Arts, the head of Inbal thanked those who made the agreement possible so that “art is offered as a human right, being a bridge for communities of young people, children, researchers and indigenous communities , as well as for those people who need to improve their physical, mental and spiritual health.
Likewise, he highlighted the willingness of the director of the civil association that allowed the Institute to consolidate efforts aimed at the youth community, in the same way it does with other schools with which it collaborates.
For her part, the general director of CIJ, Carmen Fernández Cáceres, highlighted that this collaboration agreement is significant for the Centers, and assured that it will be beneficial for the young users of the 120 operational units in the country, since they will have access to different artistic expressions with the accompaniment of experts on the subject. “Culture is a fundamental part of treatment.”
Likewise, he stated that the arts, such as musical appreciation and literature, are powerful tools to channel the energy of young people and are very useful in preventing addictions and strengthening those people seeking rehabilitation.
He also highlighted the positive effect of art on addiction prevention and the need to recognize its importance for mental well-being.
Also present at the signing were the deputy director general of Fine Arts, Héctor Romero Lecanda; the deputy director general of the Immovable Artistic Heritage, Dolores Martínez Orralde; the deputy director general of Artistic Education and Research, Mónica Hernández Riquelme; the deputy director general of Administration, Pedro Fuentes Burgos; the director of Legal Affairs of Inbal, María del Carmen Robledo, and the deputy director at the Head of Office of the Ministry of Public Education, Miguel Bencomo Cruz López. The operational director, Ángel Prado García, attended on behalf of the Center; the director of Operational Development, Maritza Jiménez Landa; the director of Prevention, Miriam Carrillo López; and the deputy director of State and Municipal Coordination, Clementina Teja Ávila.
