On Wednesday evening, striking teachers from Klaipėda reached Vilnius on foot. After resting overnight in Grigiškės, they went to Vilnius V. Kudirka square in front of the Government at noon on Thursday, where from 4 p.m. there was a big rally. After that, the striking teachers at the Teachers’ House decided to stop the strike until the end of November, when the Seimas will consider the next year’s budget.

However, this strike is not the first in Lithuanian schools. The last time was at the end of November 2018 teachers were located in the premises of the Ministry of Education, Science and Sports (ŠMSM).where he stayed for three weeks.
The security of the Ministry demanded to leave the premises, but the teachers did not obey, some of them climbed through the windows. Politicians from various parties also visited here, but the strikers missed the attention of the then Minister of Education Jurgita Petrauskienė.
It all ended with the then prime minister Saulius Skvernelis fired the minister (together with Minister of Culture Liana Ruokyte-Jonsson and Minister of Environment Kęstučius Navickas). Transport Minister Rokas Masiulis was appointed in her place.
17 institutions were audited
