That’s what it’s regarding

  • A new park is to be created at the Mythenquai lido, which will extend to the lake shore.

  • Around 250 parking spaces would have to give way for this.

  • The complete master plan is to be presented to the city council in autumn 2023.

The City of Zurich is developing an urban planning vision for the left bank of the lake around the succulent collection: Triggered by the necessary structural renovation of the succulent collection, the Office for Urban Planning has been carrying out test planning since October 2021. This has now been completed, the office announced on Friday.

In addition to renewing the succulent collection, the focus is also on creating a new park. Around 250 above-ground parking spaces are to be removed for this purpose. In addition, the Mythenquai/Alfred-Escher-Strasse traffic junction would be moved north.

Connections to the neighborhood will be improved

According to the Office for Urban Development, the new route of the road represents “an important prerequisite for the sustainable development of the area”. Along with the new local recreation areas, pedestrian and bicycle traffic connections can be optimized and connections to the district improved.

The succulent collection itself might be accommodated in a new building behind the boathouses and the water police station. In the future, it is intended to provide visitors from Germany and abroad with barrier-free access to the plant collection.

The results of the test planning are now being incorporated into a master plan, which is to be presented to the city council in autumn 2023.
