Geert Vandemenschbrugge is angry. Due to works decided by his municipality in Opbrakel, the farmer will lose precious minutes during his work. The reason ? The journey he makes almost ten times a day between his two farms, barely 150 meters apart, will be considerably lengthened by two construction sites. “The municipal authorities have planned major deviations,” he explains to the Nieuwsblad.
Results ? The man must now make a detour of four kilometers between his two farms. “The return is no problem. It’s still a journey of 150 meters, in a good minute I’m there. When I go there by car, it takes me almost ten minutes. Most individuals who live in the vicinity experience this deviation two or three times a day on average. I suffer from it on average ten times a day,” he complains.
And this is not the only inconvenience since even to reach its meadows, its journey has been considerably increased. “Before, it took me ten minutes, now it takes me an hour because of the deviations. Luckily, it’s not a path he takes every day. Although he has already contacted the competent authorities, no solution has yet been found for him, although, according to Geert, there is one. And simple at that. “They can easily solve this problem by abolishing the one-way traffic here. »
It remains to be seen what the municipal council will decide. In the meantime, Geert will have to take his troubles patiently. A patience that might last two good years, time planned for the works.
