Send a short 60-second video to your loved ones, are you interested? WhatsApp is currently introducing a new feature called “Instant Video Message”. Here is what it consists of.
In the next few days, WhatsApp will be rolling out a brand new feature to all of its users. These are instant video messages. This is completely new, since no other instant messaging application offers this type of tool.
Concretely, WhatsApp will allow you to send a very short 60-second video to your relatives, friends or colleagues. This will not be deleted following being seen, as in Snapchat, but will remain permanently in the conversation.
Its principle is exactly the same as with a voice message, since you can swipe up to record hands-free. WhatsApp ensures that the videos will be protected by end-to-end encryption. Finally, the videos will play automatically without sound, just tap on it to activate it.
Another clarification: the videos in question will be displayed with a circular shape and not rectangular as is generally the case. In practice, however, nothing prevents you from saving the video message separately to send it as an attachment.
“We think this will be a fun way to share moments with all the emotion of a video, whether it’s to wish a happy birthday, laugh at a joke or deliver some good news,” warns the social network on they are blog.
