Instagram plans to start testing a new feature that will allow users to repost content already posted by others on the social network, as they already do through the app’s “Stories”.
Social Media Consultant Matt Navarra was the first to spot a post’s re-share feature. On Twitterrecently gave a first look at the “Rest” tab.
Navarre also shared Instagram’s description of the feature. The social network describes it as follows “a new way to share with followers”. To do this, it offers users to use it to recommend a publication to their friends or start a conversation with their followers in general.

A spokesperson for the application confirmed the news to the specialized portal TechCrunch. According to him, the idea is that users will be able to share what “resonates with them” and, at the same time, credit will be given to the original creators of the content.
To that end, Instagram plans to begin testing with a quality control system. “small group of people” who will be allowed to repost the “messages” of other users in their “feed”. A function very similar to that already present in its Stories, as recognized by the spokesperson for the platform.
The development of this feature dates back to at least last May. At the time, the reverse engineering expert Alessandro Paluzzi also announced the social network’s plans on its Twitter account.

Mr. Paluzzi also indicated that this new option will appear in the menu that is displayed to the user when they share particular content.
