Instagram tests shortcut to share recent reels

O Instagram started testing a new shortcut in the Direct Messages section (Direct Messages, or DMs) from your app that lets you revisit recently shared Reels with friends and send them to even more people. The information is from TechCrunch.

The resource in question is right on top of the last messages received by the user and lists several videos in a kind of carousel. Entitled “Latest Shares” (something like “Last Shares”), the novelty also shows the profile picture of the last person you shared each of the displayed Reels with.

Instagram is testing showing you the latest posts you’ve sent to a friend in a preview.

The novelty is very reminiscent of the “Archived” section of Instagram, which brings together the latest Stories published by the user in a single place. You “Latest Shares”still according to the information, were noticed in the latest version of the Instagram app on iOS 16.

In response to TechCrunchMeta confirmed that it is indeed working on the feature, but without giving further details:

We’re rolling out improvements to how you can search for and rediscover Reels that were previously shared in messages.

Currently, the upper portion of the Direct Messages section is occupied by the Notes feature, which allows the user to share small messages that automatically disappear following 24 hours, such as Stories. Therefore, it is possible that the “Latest Shares” still undergoing changes to avoid conflicts.

There is still no information on when Instagram intends to release the news to more people.
