O Instagram might be the next big app to add support for Live Activities (Live Activities)a feature launched with iOS 16 that allows you to track the progress of tasks being performed by apps in a single notification — without the app triggering a new one at each completed step.
Even if, apparently, on a social network, this feature may not be very useful, Meta’s platform seems to have found an interesting one: a progress bar to display the media upload status. This concept can be implemented in the future in a similar way by other apps of the genre — such as showing the progress of downloads, for example.
The feature is currently in the testing phase at iOS app, having been noticed by a reader of the 9to5Mac. The activity is displayed when the user leaves the app during an upload (probably a heavier video), helping the user to know if an upload was successful or not, without having to return to the app. At least around here, it’s not uncommon to discover that a Story wasn’t properly published just by re-entering the software.
As Instagram has not yet officially announced the novelty, there is no prediction for it to be made available to all users – and not even any guarantee that the app will even adopt the feature.
Speaking of Stories and tests…
Instagram is also testing a small change to how the Stories bar appears on the Home tab. For some users now it appears even when the user is scrolling through the feedin thumbnail format.
The novelty does not get in the way of viewing feed publications and, at the same time, allows users to quickly access the Stories bar without having to go back to the top — as is currently the case.
Just tap the right-pointing arrow to expand it and display it in the traditional way (in the larger format, which takes up the entire screen horizontally).
