A Meta today introduced a new feature for the Instagram which is very similar to messenger channels like Telegram. called from “Broadcast Channels”the news was announced for the first time by the CEOChief executive officeror executive director.”>1 da Meta, Mark Zuckerberg, in a post on Facebook.
According to the company, creators will be able to use these channels to share with their followers things faster that would not usually justify a Story or a complete post. Only creators will be able to post to these channels; participants, in turn, will only be able to react to them with emojis and participate in polls.
You can create a channel directly from your Instagram inbox, and anyone can view it. To receive notifications of new messages, however, the user needs to enter the channel in question, either through the inbox, through an invitation link or through a sticker in the creator’s Stories.
The idea is that, in the future, more than one creator will be able to take care of a channel and send new messages to it. Also according to the CEO of Meta, the idea is to introduce more options in the coming months and also take the feature to Messenger and Facebook.
At least for now, only a select group of creators in the United States will have access to this news. The profiles covered by the novelty are as follows: Austin Sprinz (@austin_sprinz), Chloe Kim (@chloekim), David Allen (@ToTouchanEmu), FaZe Rug, (@fazerug), Flau’jae Johnson, (@flaujae), Gilbert Burns (@gilbert_burns), Josh Richards (@joshrichards) , Karen Cheng (@karenxcheng), Katie Feeney (@katiefeeneyy) , Lonnie IIV (@LonnieIIV), Mackenzie Dern (@mackenziedern), Mikaela Shiffrin,(@mikaelashiffrin), Tank Sinatra (@tank.sinatra) and Valkyrae (@valkyrae).
Instagram said it has tools and teams of reviewers responsible for identifying any inappropriate content on a channel. Users will also be able to report an entire channel or an individual message if they find something that violates the rules of the network.
The feature will appear to more people in the coming months. However, people interested in testing the new feature early can sign up on this page for a chance to receive it before everyone else.
