Instagram merges profile picture with avatar and tests zoom in Stories

O Instagram recently announced a new feature to help popularize avatars, created about a year ago to compete with Snapchat’s Bitmojis. Now, it will no longer be necessary to choose between the dolls or your profile photo: it has become possible to choose the simultaneous display of both, so that people who view your profile can rotate to switch between one and the other.

To activate the feature on your profile, just go to the “Edit Photo” option, configure your avatar and that’s it, the doll made in your likeness will be displayed when you rotate your profile picture. The avatar will also be animated, waving when seen.

New profile picture, who is it?
Now you can add your avatar to the other side of your photo — and people who visit your profile will be able to flip both ????.

Test the Zoom and Stories

In addition to the avatar-related function, we have a new simple but very useful feature being tested. The developer Alexander Paluzzi discovered that Instagram is working on a feature that allows you to zoom in on Stories when viewing them, as you can see in the video below.

O #Instagram is working on the ability to zoom in on stories by pinching. ????

Without a doubt, this is one of those features that makes us wonder why it hasn’t been around for a while, especially since it’s already present in similar solutions, including Meta itself, such as WhatsApp Status. In any case, it doesn’t hurt to remember that it is still a function in tests, with no forecast of being released to the general public.
