Instagram is testing a novelty for its Templates
The Templates feature on Reels is still in beta testing, with only a few hand-picked influencers who can take advantage of it. And Meta confirmed this to TechCrunch. “We are always working on new ways to simplify the creation of Reels. We are testing the ability to create a Reel using a Template used on another Reel,” a Meta spokesperson told TechCrunch in an email.
This feature allows to use any Reel as a Template
As influencer Josephine Hill explains in the tweet below, the Templates option gives users the option to select “Use as Template” on any Reel video to replace the video clips with your own. Although the current version of Templates on Reels only offers a limited number of predefined options, the new functionality seems to allow any Reel to be used as a Template.
Instagram has rolled out many features directly inspired by TikTok on Reels since the feature launched on the platform to retain its Gen Z users, and attract new ones. Some of the more recent examples include the Remix feature, the ability to collaborate on videos, new music features as well as visual responses. With Instagram head Adam Mosseri saying last year that the platform will double its video volume in 2022, it’s a safe bet we’ll see more of this kind of new stuff in the months ahead. coming.
