Meta confirmed today that it is working on a new feature for Instagram that will allow you to discover and meet people nearby using your phone’s location. The feature is similar to one launched in 2017 by Snapchat, which was inspired by a Facebook feature.
The new feature will allow you to appear and see nearby users on a map when sharing your location while Instagram is open.
According to Christine Pai, a spokesperson for Meta, the new product is currently being tested with “a specific group of people” without specifying a region or country.
