Social media photo-sharing website and mobile application Instagram has added new additions to its TikTok-based release.
In the Instagram release, users will now be able to create longer videos while trimming or cutting them more easily. According to the company, this will not only help to compete with Tik Tok, but will also allow Instagram users who may not have shown interest in Rails to be a part of it.
Instagram says the most important feature among them is increasing the length of videos. Now in the release, users will be able to record 30 seconds of video instead of 15.
The other major change is the increase in timer time which is now 10 seconds. Also users can cut a clip from a video. That should help a lot in optimizing a video, but the release doesn’t add anything yet to set it apart from Tik Tok.
With the uncertainty surrounding TikTok’s future in the US, the company expects users of the Chinese app to turn to the release.
Tessa Lyons-Liang, product director of the release, said that these changes were requested by users and were made accordingly. He added that we will continue to improve the release based on people’s feedback and these updates will make it easier to create and edit videos.
