The Quebec Association for Suicide Prevention (AQPS) recognizes the contribution of the National Institute of Public Health (INSPQ) to its mission by awarding it the prize Partner of the year. The award ceremony took place on June 12, 2023 at the Cercle de l’Université Laval, on the occasion of the annual award ceremony of the AQPS Meritas.

The AQPS thus salutes the rich contribution of the INSPQ, in particular with its annual report on suicidal behavior in Quebec. “Over the years, this document has become the central tool for our speaking out in the media as part of Suicide Prevention Week,” emphasizes the Association’s interim president and CEO, Luc Massicotte. “Our exchanges with the Institute’s scientists help us clearly identify current issues for suicide prevention. Their work has also supported us in optimizing the interventions of our sentinels in suicide prevention,” he adds.

“Knowing that our productions and statistics are useful and appreciated by a leading association in suicide prevention is extremely rewarding. I am convinced that our great collaboration allows us to better convey the messages and results to local and regional actors who work in suicide prevention”, declares the head of unit at the INSPQ, Éric Pelletier.

For the Scientific Advisor to the Population Health and Well-Being Unit, Marie-Claude Roberge, “the INSPQ is working to identify the best practices in suicide prevention and the promotion of well-being. We are honored that our work can support the AQPS in its mission to support, equip and sensitize communities to promote life. »

As for the scientific advisor for suicide surveillance in Quebec, Pascale Lévesque, she wishes to highlight the teamwork that led to this distinction: “Thanks to the collaboration of its members, the Bureau d’information et Population Health Studies has succeeded in developing remarkable expertise for monitoring suicidal behavior in Quebec. I warmly thank all the people who contributed to this success. To my colleagues, who have been of invaluable assistance and constant support, I am extremely grateful. On behalf of the entire team, we warmly thank the AQPS for this recognition and I undertake to redouble my efforts in the fight once morest suicide. »
