We told you earlier in the day regarding the addition of the VRR technology at the PlayStation 5. We now have a list of games compatible with the technology.
Insomniac games already compatible with VRR
Among the PS5 games announced as officially compatible with the Variable Refresh Rate were Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales. And precisely, the Insomniac Games studio announces that all of its games are officially compatiblewe can therefore expect this to be the case as soon as they are released for their next titles.
All of our PS5 titles support VRR (variable refresh rate) starting today, with the latest game and system updates. Since our titles are already designed to have very stable frame rates, the main effect of adjusting the VRR system will be to slightly increase the dynamic image resolution aimed for. However, if your TV also supports a high frame rate input of 120Hz and the 120Hz Display Mode option is active with VRR, you will get a variable, uncapped frame rate that may exceed the target of 30 or 60 FPS of the chosen graphics mode or more (depending on the gameplay) by 50%.
If you’re having trouble, make sure you’re using an HDMI 2.1 cable on a display that supports VRR. Please ensure that you are using a VRR compatible input on your display and that (if required) VRR is enabled in the display settings for that specific input. Consult your display’s owner’s manual for more information.
The PS5 aligns with the competition
This PS5 system update will happen this week, we learned this morning. Insomniac announces for its part that for its three games already released on the consolethe update takes place today. As a reminder, VRR technology allows, if you have a compatible screen, to synchronize the refresh rate of the display dynamically with the video output of the console. Thus, the PS5 aligns with what’s already available on Xbox Series and PC.
