Insecurity in the East: LUCHA advocates reducing the lifestyle of political institutions

Beni, March 15, 2024- The security situation in the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo, characterized by Rwandan aggression, still arouses reactions within public opinion. The latest is that of the Citizen Movement Struggle for Change (LUCHA) Beni section.

During a press briefing this Friday, March 15, this structure called on the Congolese government to reduce the lifestyle of political institutions to provide the Armed Forces of the DRC with means that might enable them to defend the entire National territory.

On the other hand, LUCHA invited the government to remove from military operations military officers suspected of complicity with armed groups, business dealings or human rights violations.

Moreover, it proposes the revitalization of the community-based security system in order to stimulate and better guide the participation of local populations in the defense of the homeland.

That’s not all, Lucha calls on the population to be vigilant in the face of the threats weighing on the nation. This, before announcing a series of demonstrations for the return of peace in the eastern region of the DRC, to denounce acts and actors favoring anti-values in the country.
