He also said that he especially appreciates all the engineers and other employees of Cochin Shipyard who have helped the construction work of Vikrant to move ahead overcoming the difficulties at every stage.

“The keel laying ceremony of INS Vikrant was performed in 2009 when she was the Defense Minister. As per the tradition of the Navy, important ships are launched by the wife of the Chief Guest. Therefore, Elizabeth Anthony launched INS Vikrant at the Cochin Shipyard in 2013. It was during this ceremony that the ship’s name was written on it. .It is also named Elizabeth.

Now the Prime Minister has dedicated INS Vikrant to India. With this, India has become a country with two aircraft carriers. Only a few countries in the world have this. We now have two aircraft carriers, INS Vikramaditya and INS Vikrant. With this, whatever crisis comes in the sea, it can be dealt with more strongly” – said AK Antony.

Anthony pointed out that this project was necessary in the current international situation. Beyond the India-China border, the most challenging issue today is at sea. China, which was not a naval power in the beginning, is now in a stronger position. China’s encroachment is a big threat to India. In this situation, A.K. should prepare to build a third aircraft carrier. Anthony added.
